I think we have to agree on a definition of racism before we can have any kind of productive dialog on the topic, which is what I was trying to get across. And I didn't do a very good job of it!

I agree with your point on the consequences of drawing those images. But drawings and words cannot be racist. They're just objects. Whatever emotions are prompted by an image or word are wholly in the mind of the observer or reader. As symbols they only exist in the firing of neurons. It's like a flag, which is just a bit of colorful cloth, and will never, in and of itself, be anything else. That's an important point that seems to escape a lot of folks who have been trained/trained themselves to leap to unsupportable conclusions.PrairieAdventurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06466447251827774900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771208131691936867.post-41632795782003080562017-04-21T08:32:06.563-06:002017-04-21T08:32:06.563-06:00Heh. Are the lions engaging in racial discrimination because they eat blacks first?

("Casual racism" was more of a reference to the stereotypes in the art. I don't think you could draw natives like that in today's climate without being labeled a racist or worse. Then I started to say that no one in today's world appreciates satire, but of course that's not true.PrairieAdventurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06466447251827774900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-771208131691936867.post-24180901280548940292017-04-21T08:23:49.861-06:002017-04-21T08:23:49.861-06:00Thanks Paul.
