"...except time."

I've got several incomplete posts rattling around in drafts, but I can't seem to find time to polish them up enough to publish.

I'll post this bit of fluff today because I've got a newspaper deadline looming and I like to live on the edge.

I've got a brother who is fixin' to ree-tire from the Omaha Fire Brigade. He's looking to join forces with us in the cattle biddness and is eyeballing a plot of adjacent grassland that's come up for sale. In a little while, after I've conquered the newspaper deadline, I'll be out tramping that ground and taking notes so as to give him my opinion.

I've also been repairing fence and preparing for calving, and that's a sun-to-sun chore. Not to mention the daily workouts as I struggle to get back into shape after five months of sloth. It's working, but as Juvat pointed out a while back, I'm no longer 26. But it is working.

In trying to carve out time to post a certain quote keeps rattling around in my head.

"Go sir, gallop, and don't forget that the world was made in six days. You can ask me for anything you like, except time."

Did the "only slightly below normal stature for the time" Corsican really say that?

If so I feel a certain kinship with the man...

Another beautiful day yesterday, capped by a gorgeous sunset. I shot this at Joint Base Prairie Adventure/NAS KImball; if you listen closely you can hear the Super Cub taxiing in behind me.

Also thought I'd pop these up. Some KC-135 action, including F-18's hitting the dreaded BDA. Mostly though, I like these vids for the girls. I know that makes me a terrible ist, but I've learned to live with it. The first one is long, the second less so. Some neat aviation action regardless.

Look at their makeup, their nails, the smoothness of the unblemished skin across their knuckles. Real girls doing real stuff in the real world. A certain segment of society could take a valuable lesson from these chicks.

A long time ago, when I were nobut a lad, I was bagging a little bit of bootleg stick time while flying a plane guard mission for TR, which was departing on initial sea trials. Which tells you a bit about my age. Anyway, I was aviatin' like a damme professional, lookin' GOOD in Starboard Delta. I got to watching the boat too much though, and was rudely put in my place by the HAC, who whacked me on the helmet and shouted, "What the fuck are you doing? Airspeed, AIRSPEED!"

As I was decelerating through 60 knots. SMH. Facepalm.

It was only later, when I thought about the fact that the HAC was a girl, that I realized that something had fundamentally changed. For the better.
