More ranch stuff

Ah, busy again. Nothing major, just a lot of stuff to do on a nice springtime day.

As I mentioned the other day I moved the cows and calves to the south googie, which is just across the fence from where they were. There were a few straggler cows with some very young calves left behind and that was okay -- didn't want to stress the little ones over much. I left the gates open so they could join the rest of the herd but apparently they were comfortable where they were.

Today I decided to move the stragglers on over too. It was a bit of a rodeo as it always is when cows have young calves. I finally got them moved into the new pasture. Well, all except for one little guy who managed to miss the gate. I swear, if the gate was a mile wide there would be one that couldn't figure it out.

I soon got him in the right pasture though and now he has his own special adventure to tell his buddies about.

While I was checking cows a Meadowlark landed on a fence post and held still long enough for me to film. It was windy but I was able to stay inside the pickup and so the wind noise was much reduced.

A while later I got a few snaps of a 13-lined ground squirrel. They're kind of hard to photograph because they blend in to the prairie so well.

While I was snapping pics my phone dinged and told me that Sonjabueno had posted a new video. She's a Finnish girl attending kollidge in North Carolina. It's fun to get a glimpse of what the kids are up to and this young lady has some interesting insights.

And that's about all I got. Hope you all are having a great day.
