After the storm
We had a declared winter storm yesterday. It was what I would have called normal April snow, but hey, I'm old and busted.
It did get very cold overnite, down to 4 degrees for about an hour.
We had a couple of nice-ish days following the Easter snow. Not warm but above freezing, lots of sun, lots of wind. The chickens seemed to be down with it. This was Wednesday.
Here is yesterday morning.
And afternoon.
The Big Aircrew Chief recently revealed a new and previously hidden pathway. His message was clear -- walk it or not, the choice is yours, but it's probably a good idea.
Therefore I am embarked on a challenging and thus far very rewarding journey, and it will be henceforth part of my big adventure.
Pushing me right the hell out of my comfort zone, which is great!
Be well and embrace the blessings of liberty.

Snow in April, not unheard of in Little Rhody, but rare. OTOH, snowed in the ancestral homeland further north. Poor man's fertilizer is what my maternal grandfather called it.
ReplyDeleteSpring snow is good stuff. The more I curse it the better it generally is for all growing things.

So of course it snowed here Saturday morning. Just a dusting but I get the feeling it was a reminder of who really runs things around here!
DeleteYeah, it's fun to not be in charge! ;-)
DeleteWe got hammered pretty good, to the tune of 14~16" on the "snow gauge" in the back yard. Busted two big branches off my poor little crab apple tree, but everything else appears to have got through OK.
ReplyDeleteThe back yard is going to be a real mud pit this coming week....
Yikes! It's good moisture, but good moisture can sure be a trial.

I live about 25 miles from DrJim and we got more snow - all of it wet and heavy. Today's mile walk with the beast was in bright sun with the blackbirds in the wet lands singing. Glad to see they found shelter from the storm. Wyoming's I-80 closed again yesterday from Cheyenne past Rawlins. Wrecks.
DeleteOver the years we have had worse storms later in April. June is when we can start relaxing.
After the spring snowstorm nature seems to paint with a particularly vibrant brush. Sounds like you walked in a very vibrant painting. Put a smile on my face. :-)
DeleteApril and May have served up some monumental blizzards in my experience. I've seen snow falling in early June but it didn't/couldn't accumulate. In 1969 we had a widespread cold snap in mid-June that killed a lot of winter wheat and spring planted crops and every garden. That was probably a once-in-a-century cold snap.

We were to be on fire watch here due to high winds, and low humidity. A little breezy was all. Beautiful day today.
ReplyDeleteFire watch is not good, hope you folks can avoid all that stuff for a while.
DeleteBeautiful day is good though!

Because our internet connection is weak, my wife asked me not to watch your videos earlier today. Then during supper and after we resumed our binge watch of NCIS. So I just got my chicken video fix. While you were getting frozen moisture, we were have some very nice days. Well, we're supposed to get rain tomorrow; I hope you get warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post.

Always interesting to hear about the weather out your way Paul. The same systems always eventually wash over us but they seldom do exactly what they did out toward the west coast.
DeleteWe'll warm up, no doubt about it. One of April's joys is the warm sunny stuff mixed in with the cold snowy stuff.
